PIT PONY STEEL
A Pit Pony from the 1990's, Steel retired after a lifetime working in Welsh Private Coal Mines. He has breathing problems from the coal dust in his lungs. We have to take special care of Steel and the other ex-Pit Ponies at the centre. He has settled in well and enjoys the peace and rest in his retirement home that he so much deserves.

LUKIE
Lukie's pregnant mum was used to pay a debt between men. She was then kept in a tiny bare allotment where Lukie was born. Later a vet put down his weak and emaciated mum as she was to weak to survive. Lukie was left nuzzling his mums cold, body for several days before we were alerted to his plight. He was brought thin, de-hydrated and infested with blood sucking lice to the Centre. A few hours more and it would have been to late.

PIT PONY DYLAN

Dylan was a rented Pit Pony.  He worked in many of the small private mines.  For £25 per week he would have come to work in yours!  He suffered a spinal injury and with the decline in the price of coal was sold as a riding pony.

However with his back injury and strength he was unsuitable for riding,  He retired to the Centre in 1999
